Viewing Parties in Three States Build Enthusiasm & Funds
May is less than two weeks old, but already we’ve shown half of the BOYS! fine cut to small groups in Palo Alto, California, Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington
We were honored to be invited to screen the film for the 50th Anniversary Reunion of the April Third Movement (A3M) on the Stanford University campus. Founded fifty years ago, A3M was a student group opposed to the Vietnam War that protested war-related research at Stanford and the presence of the ROTC. About forty people attended, including several draft resisters and BOYS! supporters. $900 was raised.
The other two showings were house parties organized by our new volunteer, Sara Smith, to begin to spread the word about BOYS! outside the Bay Area, and raised $1,800.
ORGANIZE A HOUSE PARTY We would be happy to help organize more such house parties or group showings. Please contact us if you might be interested in hosting one - ccoloradojones@yahoo.com.
The 45 minute cut shown is not the final cut, which we could complete within months and in time to enter Sundance if completion funds are raised to pay for the iconic music of the times.
OUR 1960'S STORIES
Many people from the '60's era have an important story that they want to share. Whether resister, veteran or relative, BOYS! can help tell those stories. We plan to:
Help set up community screenings and discussions when the film is done,
Initiate a Facebook and website archive of different Resisters’ personal stories. Stay tuned.
